Thanks to our donors generous support, we have successfully installed one of only two 4K laser projectors of this kind in Northern Michigan, elevating the cinema experience to new heights for our valued patrons!

Some Fun Facts…

  • The only other projector like this one, in Northern Michigan, is at Interlochen Center for the Arts.

  • This projector is a 4K DCP laser projector.

  • The projector is 68% more efficient on energy consumption compared to the old projector.

  • A new audio processor was installed and re-calibrated along with the new projector, improving our already great 5.1 surround sound.

About The Bay Community Theatre

The Bay Theatre has been serving northern Michigan for more than 70 years. In late 2018, thanks to strong community support, The Bay was saved from permanent closure and began operating as a 501(c)3 non-profit theatre under the name Bay Community Theatre. Today, “The Bay” is run mostly by volunteers, is open 7 days a week, and is visited by more than 15,000 people each year. The theatre is the only movie theatre in our county and has become a cherished community gathering place for movies, live music, and community events.
