Words & Writers: Tim Mulherin

<div>Join us for a new author talk series at The Bay! The series continues with an afternoon event on Monday, September 28 at 2pm with author Tim Mulherin in conversation with interviewer Kama Ross. Admission is free; donations are welcome and benefit the nonprofit Bay Theatre.</div><div><br></div><div>About Tim Mulherin: Tim Mulherin is the author of "This Magnetic North: Candid Conversations on a Changing Northern Michigan," published by Michigan State University Press (2025), and "Sand, Stars, Wind, &amp; Water: Field Notes from Up North," published by Mission Point Press (2021). Of note, "This Magnetic North" is a 2026 Michigan Notable Book.</div><div><br></div><div>Mulherin is a frequent contributor to northern Michigan’s Glen Arbor Sun newspaper. He won first place in the Michigan Press Association’s 2024 Better Newspaper Contest in the Best Opinion category for his August 2023 Sun piece, “Overlooking Jim Harrison.” His writing has appeared in Traverse Magazine, Bridge Michigan, and the Northern Express. His next book, to be published by MSU Press, focuses on Midwestern wildlife, specifically in Michigan and Indiana, where he maintains dual citizenship.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>About Kama Ross: After receiving her forestry degree from Michigan State University, Kama Ross served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Paraguay. She enjoyed a varied career as an outdoor and environmental educator, helping all ages connect with the natural world and inspiring everyone to be observant and proactive stewards. After retiring, she served as a Leelanau County Commissioner before re-joining Peace Corps service in the Philippines. Now fully retired, Ross travels often to visit her first grandchild and three grown children spread from coast to coast. She enjoys playing her flute with several area ensembles, volunteering with local organizations, skiing, kayaking, hiking, biking, and reading at Good Harbor Beach.</div>PT1H30M2026-09-28
